The BriefEl BriefEl Brief

A place so extraordinary it needed no decoration.

Casa Origen sits inside one of South America's most protected natural landscapes — where the Sierra Nevada mountains meet the Caribbean. The brand had to earn its place in that environment: quiet, grounded, and unmistakably rooted.

The ChallengeEl RetoEl Reto
"Design a luxury hotel brand that disappears into the jungle — and is unforgettable because of it."
"Diseñar una marca de hotel de lujo que desaparezca en la jungla — y sea inolvidable por eso."
European premium travellers come to Tayrona for the opposite of noise. They've seen maximalist hotel branding. They distrust it. Casa Origen needed a visual language that whispered rather than shouted — that felt like it had grown from the soil, not been applied from above. Every touchpoint had to feel earned: natural materials, indigenous pattern references, a mark that could live on a tote bag in a jungle clearing and a hotel keycard in a candlelit room.
The ApproachEl Enfoque
"A native cross-mark icon. Teal like the Caribbean. Gold like early light through the forest canopy. Sand like the beach beneath your feet."
"Un ícono de marca cruzada nativa. Verde azulado como el Caribe. Dorado como la luz temprana a través del dosel del bosque. Arena como la playa al amanecer."
"Un ícono de marca cruzada nativa. Verde azulado como el Caribe. Dorado como la luz temprana a través del dosel del bosque. Arena como la playa al amanecer."
We anchored the identity in three visual pillars: a geometric monogram mark drawn from indigenous Kogi iconography, a palette of deep Caribbean teal, warm antique gold, and unbleached sand, and a chevron-and-circle pattern system inspired by the traditional weaving of the Sierra Nevada peoples. The result is a brand that feels found rather than designed — ancient and contemporary at once.

Identity System

The mark that belongs here.

The Casa Origen logomark is a cross-and-circle composition — four cardinal arms nested inside a circle — referencing the cosmological diagrams of the Sierra Nevada's indigenous Kogi people, who view this mountain range as the "heart of the world." It's simultaneously a compass, a sun, and a home.

01
The Indigenous Mark
Four arms within a circle — a Kogi cosmological symbol representing the four cardinal directions, the four seasons, the relationship between earth and sky. Used in gold on sand for print, white on teal for outdoor applications, teal on cream for hospitality pieces.
02
Chevron Pattern Language
A continuous chevron lattice drawn from the weaving patterns of the Sierra Nevada people. It appears at the borders of business cards, on the beach chair canvas, on product labels, and on the hotel key sleeve — always in gold on sand or white on teal, never reversed.
03
Typography: Quiet Confidence
"CASA ORIGEN" in wide-tracked capitals — calm, assured, unhurried. "HOTEL BOUTIQUE" in small letter-spaced lowercase beneath. No competing weights. No decorative fonts. The hierarchy is architectural: the mark first, the name second, the descriptor last.

Guest Experience

From the room to the river.

The brand extends into every physical touchpoint of the guest journey — from the welcome folder that holds your key card, to the amenity bottles in your bathroom, to the tote bag you carry down to the beach. Every object tells the same story.

01
Welcome Kit
A kraft folder with gold-debossed "WELCOME" in full height on the left panel. Your key card nestles into the right panel — chevron pattern on white. "Disfruta tu estadía" in teal. Warm, not corporate.
02
Bathroom Amenities
Hand soap, shampoo, hair rinse, bath gel — matte cream bottles with gold pump hardware. The mark in teal. Product name in teal type. Chevron and circle ornament at the base. A full spa-grade set that feels artisan, not hotel-standard.
03
Beach Chair
The brand's most visible outdoor touchpoint. Deep Caribbean teal canvas with the full wordmark in white at the top and the geometric sun-circle graphic at the base. Natural wood frame. Unforgettable at the water's edge.
04
Tote Bag
White canvas. Gold-printed mark. Navy wordmark. Chevron pattern at the hem with the circle medallion. Given to every guest on arrival. Carried into the jungle. Photographed on every beach. The brand's best ambassador.

Cultural Roots

Designed from the inside out.

The visual language of Casa Origen is not decoration — it's archaeology. Every geometric element traces back to the real cultural heritage of the Sierra Nevada, where the Kogi, Arhuaco, and Wiwa peoples have kept one of the world's oldest living cosmologies intact.

The Cross-Circle Mark
The four-armed cross nested in a circle is the Kogi symbol for the relationship between the four worlds and the cosmos. It appears in their tunics, their ceremonial objects, and their architecture. We distilled it into a clean geometric mark — respectful of its source, contemporary in its execution.
The Chevron Pattern
Chevron and diamond weaving patterns are central to Sierra Nevada textile tradition — appearing in the mochilas (handwoven bags) made by Arhuaco women as records of cosmological knowledge. The pattern becomes the brand's background texture, border, and decorative element throughout the system.
The Circle — Sun & Water
The filled circle form appears on the beach chair canvas and the tote bag — a sun rising from geometric lines, or an eye looking outward. It's the most abstract element in the system, and the most atmospheric: it belongs at the point where the jungle meets the sea.
The Palimpsest
In Kogi thought, everything that exists has existed before — the land holds memory, the stones hold stories. The Casa Origen brand operates the same way: each element has been here before, in a different form. The brand is a remembering, not an invention.
The Palette

Every colour is already there.

The Casa Origen palette is extracted from the landscape itself. Caribbean teal is the sea at noon. Antique gold is the light through the canopy. Unbleached sand is the beach underfoot. Deep jungle green is the forest at dusk.
