Colombian coffee, reborn for the world.

From naming a brand that didn't yet exist, to hand-drawn botanical illustrations of Colombian flora and fauna, to two complete packaging lines — Aramonta is the story of a coffee grown at altitude 55, exported from Colombia to Asia and the Pacific, told through the language of nature.

Aramonta came to Brandnew as a concept: exceptional Colombian coffee destined for the Asian and Pacific export market. There was no name, no visual identity, no packaging. Just extraordinary coffee — and a vision to make the world taste Colombia differently. The ChallengeEl RetoEl Reto
"Create a brand — its name, its soul, its face — that could stand in a Tokyo café or a Seoul roastery and unmistakably say: Colombia."
"Crear una marca — su nombre, su alma, su cara — que pudiera estar en un café de Tokio o en una tostadora de Seúl y decir inconfundiblemente: Colombia."

Export coffee packaging for Asian markets has a specific visual grammar: clean, premium, story-led. Buyers in Japan, South Korea, and Australia respond to authenticity, origin storytelling, and craft illustration. Generic photography wasn't enough. The brand needed a visual language as rich as the coffee itself — botanical, ornate, alive. And it needed a name that could work bilingually, that carried the altitude and the wildness of its origin. "Name it from the land. Illustrate it from life. Build two worlds — one for light roast, one for dark — and let the birds carry the story."
"Nómbrala desde la tierra. Ilústrala desde la vida. Construye dos mundos — uno para tueste claro, uno para oscuro — y deja que las aves cuenten la historia."

We coined "Aramonta" from three roots: ARA (the scarlet macaw, Colombia's iconic bird), MONT (from monte — the mountain, the highland, the altitude), and TA (the Chibcha word for water, source, and origin). Then we drew it. Every leaf, every flower, every bird is hand-rendered in botanical illustration style — the hummingbird for the beige line, the macaw for the green. "55" is the altitude marker, the signature that places this coffee precisely in the Colombian highlands.
Suena a origen. Suena a naturaleza. Suena a Colombia.

ARA
The Scarlet Macaw Ara macao — Colombia's most spectacular bird. The ara is a symbol of freedom, colour, and the tropical lowlands that border the coffee highlands. It becomes the brand mascot on the roasted line.
MON
Monte · Mountain · Altitude From the Spanish "monte" — the highland, the wild slope, the altitude that defines specialty coffee character. Aramonta 55 grows where the air is thin and the flavour is complex.
TA
Taga — Source · Water · Origin From the Chibcha root for water and source — the rivers and rains that feed the Colombian highlands. The origin of all things. "55" is the altitude number, the unique stamp of provenance.

Every species is real.
Every stroke is deliberate.
Cada especie es real.
Cada trazo es deliberado.

The illustrations on Aramonta's packaging are not stock images or digital renders. They are hand-drawn botanical studies of the actual flora and fauna of the Colombian coffee-growing regions — executed in the tradition of 19th-century natural history illustration, adapted for the language of modern premium packaging.

01 · Beige Line
Hummingbird
Trochilidae sp.
The emerald-and-rust hummingbird in mid-flight is the spirit of the Colombian highlands — hovering between the hibiscus blossoms and coffee cherries, it's the pollinator and the symbol of the whole bean line. Delicate, precise, impossibly quick. Illustrated with watercolour layering and ink line work.
02 · Beige Line
Hibiscus & Coffee Cherry
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis · Coffea arabica
Pink hibiscus blossoms frame the upper left — explosive and tropical. Coffee cherries cluster at the right, showing the fruit in three stages of ripeness: green, golden, deep red. The cherry illustration grounds the packaging in direct agricultural truth: this is where coffee comes from.
03 · Green Line
Scarlet Macaw
Ara macao
The scarlet macaw — the bird that gave Aramonta its name — dominates the roasted coffee line. Perched on a banana leaf against deep forest green, it commands attention without aggression. The rich reds, blues, and greens of the macaw are painted in full botanical detail, making every bag a collector's piece.
04 · Green Line
Coffee Blossom & Fern
Coffea arabica · Cyatheaceae
White coffee blossoms — the jasmine-scented flowers that precede the cherry — appear in the upper corners of the green bag, alongside highland ferns. These are the botanical details that specialty coffee buyers notice: the story of the plant, told from flower to bean to cup.
05 · Both Lines
The Wordmark
Aramonta 55 — Custom lettering
The "ARAMONTA 55" stacked lettering uses a custom condensed serif with ornate crossbar details — each letter has small chevron cuts and inktrapped corners that nod to Andean textile patterns. The "55" and altitude-arrow mark complete the word as a cartographic signature.
06 · Craft Process
From Sketch to Bag
End-to-end illustration and packaging design
Every illustration was hand-drawn, scanned at high resolution, colour-corrected for print, and composed directly into the bag flat. No AI generation. No stock library. The packaging is an original artwork in an edition of thousands — the same brushstroke is on every bag that reaches Tokyo, Seoul, or Sydney.

Design System

Two worlds. One family.

The beige and green lines are siblings — sharing the same wordmark, the same botanical illustration approach, the same typographic system. But each has its own colour world, its own bird, its own personality. Together they form a complete premium range.

01
The Wordmark
Stacked bold serif capitals with custom crossbar ornaments — "ARA / MON / TA 55" with the altitude arrow mark. On beige, it prints in forest green. On green, it prints in warm cream. Same letterforms, two expressions. Always legible at bag scale.
02
Bilingual Copy
"café grano / whole bean coffee" and "café tostado / Roasted coffee" — always bilingual, Spanish first. This is a statement of origin: this coffee speaks Spanish because it comes from Colombia, and it speaks English because it's going to the world.
03
The 55 Mark
The number 55 paired with a mountain-arrow glyph is the brand's altitude signature — unique, specific, unfakeable. It tells buyers exactly where this coffee comes from and at what elevation. In Asian specialty markets, provenance precision is a premium signal.

Export Strategy

Colombia to the
Pacific Rim.

Aramonta was designed from day one for the specialty coffee markets of East Asia and the Pacific — where origin storytelling, hand-crafted illustration, and bilingual copy aren't optional. They're what separates a premium bag from a commodity. The brand language was built to travel.
