Legal branding has a reputation problem: most law firms look identical — navy, conservative serif, generic. Pérez López needed something different: a brand that spoke to their specific positioning as criminal defence specialists. Serious enough to inspire trust in the most high-stakes situations. Refined enough to signal craft and intellectual rigour. Human enough to make a client in crisis feel they've found the right counsel.

The identity is built on typographic authority: the full partner names in a refined high-contrast serif, stacked with generous tracking on "ABOGADOS" in small caps beneath. The centrepiece is a custom ornate ampersand — a single letterform with enough visual complexity to function as a standalone mark. Every production decision reinforces the premium: blind emboss (no ink, pure relief) on heavy uncoated cotton stock. The brand is felt as much as it is seen.

Identity System

Every decision is deliberate.

The Pérez López brand operates on a principle of earned decoration. Nothing in the identity exists for aesthetic reasons alone — every element has a structural or symbolic purpose. The ornate ampersand, the deep teal, the blind emboss production technique: each is a precise signal to a specific audience.

The Wordmark
Two surnames in a high-contrast classical serif — Didot-adjacent, with strong hairline-to-stroke contrast — stacked left-aligned. "ABOGADOS" appears below in widely tracked small caps: subordinate in scale, equal in weight. The hierarchy communicates partnership and specialisation in a single reading.

The Ornate Ampersand
The custom "&" mark is the brand's most distinctive element — a swash-heavy, scroll-detailed ampersand drawn in the tradition of legal and academic seals. It sits between the two names as a visual and symbolic connector: the partnership is the point. Used alone, it becomes a monogram-scale mark for embossed seals, ring stamps, and single-colour applications.

Blind Emboss Technique
The primary stationery application uses blind emboss — relief printing without ink, creating a tactile impression in the surface of heavy uncoated stock. It's a production technique associated with the highest levels of legal, financial, and academic credibility. You feel it before you read it. That's entirely intentional.

Colours chosen from the courtroom itself.

Deep Teal is the colour of authority without aggression — dark enough to read as serious, alive enough to avoid the monotony of black. Ink Black is pure, uncompromising, and absolute. The silver-white of uncoated cotton stock is the brand's third colour: the surface itself becomes part of the palette.
